Dam: Silver Fern
Born: 1998
Colour: Grey
Height: Expected to mature 15.3hh
“Fern” is quite possibly the best-bred performance mare ever to be born on New Zealand soil. Both her parents were international stars at Grand Prix level, and this little mare has every necessary attribute to go Grand Prix herself.
Her sire Master is an approved Swedish Warmblood. He had an illustrious competition career under Kyra Kyrklund, winning 20 out of his first 21 starts including wins at Prix St Georges with scores well over 70%. He had his first Grand Prix start at a CDI World Cup Qualifier in 1997, winning the Kur with more than 78% ! His young stock are sought after worldwide for their great paces, temperament and willingness to perform.
Fern is named after her famous New Zealand bred mother Silver Fern, who was trained and ridden by Sharon Field. This mare won many Grand Prix titles both in New Zealand and across the Tasman. She was virtually unbeatable at the height of her competition career.
Fern is a lovely type of mare with good looks and very correct conformation. Her attitude towards work is phenomenal – a real “ten” for character. She has lovely forward paces and good ability to collect. She is suitable for a young rider or small adult wanting a talented, easy young horse.
